Celebrate America Rally To Showcase Liberty Candidates

Celebrate America Rally To Showcase Liberty Candidates

PASCO COUNTY – In the spirit of the tea parties that are quickly changing the political landscape, the Celebrate America Rally promises to bring together a variety of liberty-minded citizens and political candidates.

The outdoor rally will begin at 1pm on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Rotary Pavilion at 15325 Alric Pottberg Road, in Shady Hills, about one-quarter mile west of the intersection of State Road 52 and the Suncoast Parkway.  The event is being hosted by Republican U.S. House District 5 candidate Jason Sager, and will feature several candidates from national and state races.

Among the headliners are Alex Snitker, Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate, who has been the buzz of talk radio lately, and is quickly gaining ground in a race that is getting national attention. Snitker recently defeated rivals Gov. Charlie Crist and Democrat front runner Kendrick Meek in a major tea party straw poll.

The rally is sure to inspire those who believe in smaller government, less taxes, and individual liberty. Jason Sager was recently quoted by RedState.com as saying, “If Republicans are the Party of No, then I’m going to be The Man Of HELL NO!”

Likewise, Alex Snitker, a 34-year-old former Marine, is motivated by an outrage at the direction congress has taken this country, and a sense of duty to help repair the damage. “The entrenched political class has been eroding the Constitution and our founding principles for generations,” said Snitker, “and I, like so many of my countrymen, will no longer tolerate it.”

Other speakers include Republican U.S. House candidates Eric Forcade, District 10 and Eddie Adams Jr., District 11.  In addition to plenty of passionate politics, organizers are also promising great food and music.

Gates will open at noon. A $10 per carload campaign contribution is requested.

Snitker Responds to Rubio CPAC Speech

February 27th, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C. – While speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last weekend, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio may have found that much of his message fell on libertarian-leaning, deaf ears. His rival for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat, Libertarian Alexander Snitker, was quick to point out the stark contrasts between Rubio and himself.

In a major upset, de facto tea party leader Ron Paul won the CPAC presidential straw poll, another indication that the conservative philosophy is quickly evolving into a more libertarian mold, and away from the neo-conservatism of the Bush era. This may bode well for Snitker and other Libertarian candidates, who agree with most Republicans on the problems that exist, but offer concrete policies instead of just opposition.

Candidate Rubio spoke at length about individual liberty as a concept, but he revealed little in the way of long-term solutions or policy proposals.

“When it comes to foreign policy, individual liberty, states rights, sound money, and taxes, the Republican Party as a whole tends to forget about our founding documents,” said Snitker. “If Mr. Rubio was truly concerned about individual liberty, he would join me in signing the 10th Amendment Pledge.

Snitker is in favor of repealing the 16th Amendment, and replacing federal income tax with a consumption-based tax system on goods and services, such as the Fair Tax. Snitker says this would reduce corruption by ending special-interest loopholes and corporate tax breaks written by congressional lobbyists.

“My opponent correctly pointed out the problems of our crushing debt and bloated federal budgets,” said Snitker. “But he stopped short of offering any solutions. My solution to the problem is to pass a balanced budget amendment, requiring the federal government to live within its means.”

One of the more significant differences between the candidates is foreign policy. In his speech, Rubio summed up his Middle East policy by warning, “We will punish [Islamic radicals] – we will punish their allies, like Iran…the ones that survive, we will capture them.”

Snitker contrasted his position by saying, “This is exactly the kind of foreign entanglements that our Founders warned us about. We can’t afford, either in blood or treasure, a continuing war with a new enemy every few years. It’s time to end the policy of policing the world and instead return to defending our own borders and our true national interests.” Snitker added, “We will never spread peace and freedom at the barrel of a gun. Instead, we must be the shining beacon of freedom in the world – leading by example, not by force.”

According to some analysts, the GOP is taking a page from the 2008 Democrat play book. “Just like the Democrats rode to power on a platform of ‘we’re not Bush’, the Republicans are now running a campaign of ‘we’re not Obama, Pelosi, and Reid,’” said Char-Lez Braden, Libertarian Party of Florida Executive Committee member. “Libertarians are instead offering true solutions, not just opposition.”

Snitker Not Surprised by Ron Paul CPAC Win

February 25th, 2010
For Immediate Release

 Dated: Feb 22, 2010

U.S. Senate candidate Alex Snitker of Florida says Ron Paul CPAC win indicates a sea change in America of principle over party.

TAMPA – In a outcome that shocked many media observers, U.S. Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) defeated high-profile rivals Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, and Mike Huckabee to win the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) presidential straw poll on Saturday. Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Alex Snitker said he was “not surprised” by Ron Paul’s win. “This is another victory for the libertarian principles of Constitutional conservatism and individual liberty,” Snitker told supporters after a campaign stop in Tampa, Florida.

Snitker also shocked political pundits recently by placing a strong second in the Orlando Tea Party straw poll, defeating both Republican Gov. Charlie Crist and Democrat front-runner Kendrick Meek. “There is a sea change happening in America right now. We are seeing that people are no longer willing to accept party loyalty at the expense of Constitutional principles,” said Snitker. “I support Ron Paul because his views on sound money, limited federal government, civil liberties and a non-interventionist foreign policy mirror my own deeply-held convictions.”

Snitker’s grass-roots campaign is quickly becoming a thorn in the side of GOP front-runner Marco Rubio. Snitker, a 34-year-old former Marine, has been closing the gap on Rubio among Tea Party members and libertarian-leaning Republicans. Surprisingly, Snitker’s campaign has also received fresh support from traditionally liberal voters, likely due to his stance on civil liberties.

“Ron Paul is able to unite people from both ends of the political spectrum by using a consistent, logical approach to government — by working to restrain the federal government within the confines of the Constitution and to keep government out of people’s personal lives,” said Snitker. “That’s exactly what we intend to do.”

Strong showing at the Straw Poll

Snitker Defeats Crist, Meek in Straw Poll

ORLANDO – Roughly 1,000 people braved frigid, windy conditions Saturday outside of City Hall to speak with candidates and to cast their ballot in the Orlando Tea Party Hob Nob and Staw Poll. Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Alexander Snitker energized the crowd with a passionate speech on the topics of the Fair Tax, sound monetary policy, and the Constitution. Snitker then shocked the organizers by defeating both Republican Gov. Charlie Crist and Democrat challenger Kendrick Meek in the straw poll, coming in second only to Republican Marco Rubio.

The poll lines stretched for roughly a city block for over two hours, and the poll was kept open longer than expected to accomodate the high demand. Snitker, a 34-year-old former Marine and political newcomer, seemed happy about the strong showing, but was also quick to focus on the future.

“The straw poll results are very encouraging, and our team learned two things from it,” said Snitker, “We learned that we’ve come a very long way running a strictly grass-roots, liberty-focused campaign. But it also shows that we have a long way to go before we can start cleaning up Washington and restoring our Constitutional republic.”

The event was organized by the Orlando Tea Party and Tea Party Patriots Live radio show on 660AM WORL. The straw poll was conducted on optical ballot scanning machines, and was overseen by Bill Cowels, Orange County Supervisor of Elections.

“Considering the massive funding and the political machinery that the Democrats and GOP have brought to bear, that a Libertarian running a grass-roots campaign could defeat the Democrat front-runner and the sitting Republican Governor…it’s a terrific outcome,” said Phil Laibe, regional chairman of the Florida Libertarian Party.

After the event, WORL radio hosts Phil Russo and Jason Hoyt both agreed that Snitker was the one candidate that stood out among all the rest. “He really hit it out of the park,” said Russo, and added that Snitker and the Libertarian Party had a huge following at the event.

Snitker Hoping for Win in Tea Party Straw Poll

ORLANDO – U.S. Senate candidate Alexander Snitker is expecting a strong showing at the Orlando Tea Party Hob Nob and Straw Poll this Saturday at noon at Orlando City Hall. Snitker, a Libertarian who has been embraced by the tea party movement, will be one of many candidates for state and national contests to be on the ballot and in attendance.

Snitker, 34, is a former U.S. Marine and a newcomer to politics. “In this race, there are civil libertarians on one side and fiscal conservatives on the other. People find themselves in the position of selecting the lesser of two evils,” said Snitker of his political rivals in Florida’s U.S. Senate race. “Only the Libertarian Party brings the concept of individual liberty and constitutionally-limited government together in one platform.”

Candidates for Governor, Attorney General, U.S. Senate and House, as well as state and local offices are scheduled to attend. Organizers say the event will offer the chance for voters to talk to the candidates, and allow the candidates, media, and the public to measure the political pulse of the tea party movement. Though a large turnout is expected, only 1,000 ballots will be cast.

“The Tea Party Hob Nob was a natural next step for the movement,” said Tom Tillison, a tea party activist and event organizer. “We are encouraging people to be more informed political consumers and hopefully events like this one give the people a chance to really get to know the people who want their vote.”

Just days before the event, Snitker announced the launch of the “rEVOLution Money Bomb,” a major fund raising push in conjunction with other Liberty candidates through out the country. Snitker is asking supporters to make a $17.76 donation to the campaign by texting LIBERTY 17.76 to 27138 or by visiting his website, http://snitker2010.com.

You own your life.

January 31st, 2010

That is a self-evident statement. It is the fundamental concept of freedom. You own your life. No individual or group can make any higher claim on your life than you. Nor can you, as an individual or member of a group, make a higher claim on anyone else’s life. To be deprived of life through force is murder.

Because you own your life, you also own your actions. You are free to engage in any action you like, as long as it does not specifically deprive another individual of their freedom. You may enter into any relationship or association with any other individual, as long as it is consensual. To be deprived of liberty through force or coercion is slavery.

Because you own your life, you also own the fruits of your labors. You own what you produce. This is your property. Property can consist of your money, your house, or your lava lamp. No individual or group has a higher claim on your property than you. Nor do you have a higher claim on any other individual’s property. You are free to consensually exchange your property for the property of others. To be deprived of property through force or coercion is theft.

I’d like to ask you a basic question: Which of your freedoms are you willing to surrender to the government? Are you willing to surrender your life? Are you willing to surrender your liberty? Are you willing to surrender your property?

Today, both of the two major political parties are asking you to sacrifice your freedoms. A vote for one of the two parties is a vote for which of these freedoms you are willing to surrender.

Democrats force you to surrender your property. They believe that the poor, the unions, or the uninsured have a higher claim on your property than you do. They believe the government has the authority to confiscate your property in order to redistribute it to other individuals, based upon their judgment of worthiness.

Republicans force you to surrender your liberty. They believe that the church, the corporations, or the majority have a higher claim on your liberty than you do. They believe the government has the authority to enforce a moral code, and they want to determine who you marry, what you put into your body, and who your enemies are.

Throughout history, when a government was willing to take liberty or property by force or coercion, they ultimately devolved into taking the most fundamental of all freedoms…life.

This happened in antiquity at the hands of Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great. It happened in the middle ages at the hands of the kings of Europe and the inquisitors of the church. It happened in the modern era at the hands of Nazi Germans, Stalinist Soviets, and Maoist Chinese.

There is only one political party in America that holds the fundamental principle of freedom above all other issues:

The Libertarian Party.

The Libertarian way is a logically consistent approach to politics based on the moral principle of self-ownership. Each individual has the right to control his or her own body, action, speech, and property. Government’s only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud.

As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others. We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships. Only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.

Consequently, we defend each person’s right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power.   Stop supporting the lesser of two evils.

Stop supporting the two-party political machine.   Join the Libertarian Party.

Many of you will argue that a third party candidate will never win. You may think that supporting a third party is throwing your vote away. Allow me to explain why that type of thinking will ensure that true and meaningful change never happens.

Some people will continue to vote for a candidate because of an (R) or (D) next to their name. They may have done this all their lives, hoping that “this time, it will be different.” Ask yourself this:  Has it ever really been different?

How many times have you voted Republican because you believe in economic freedom? Have the Republicans ever delivered true economic freedom? Our tax system is broken and unjust. Our debt is unsustainable and unending. Our small businesses are being crushed by regulation.

How many times have you voted Democrat because you believe in civil liberties? Have the Democrats ever delivered true individual liberty? Gays and lesbians are still second-class citizens. There are plants that you are forbidden to possess or use. You can be forced to fight wars that you oppose.

If there is ever to be real and lasting change, you must stand up for your beliefs. The time is now to support candidates who will protect ALL of your freedoms, not just select ones.

It is your time to act. To speak. To vote your conscience. Take action today.

The Libertarian Party is the largest third party in America, with over 200,000 registered voters. In recent elections, the Libertarian Party has run more candidates on the ballot for local, state and national offices than all other third parties…combined.

You can make a difference by supporting Alexander Snitker, Libertarian for U.S. Senate. This is a true, grass-roots campaign is looking for volunteers for canvassing, fund raising, viral marketing, multimedia production, and a host of other positions. Contact us today to find out how you can help.

Senate Hopeful Spreads Tea Party Message
GAINESVILLE – Alexander Snitker, Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate, addressed a larger-than-expected crowd at the Gainesville Tea Party meeting in Jonesville.   The small-government candidate spoke before a crowd of more than 200 liberty-minded attendees.  Organizers of the event were overwhelmed by the turnout.
Snitker spoke on the topics of smaller government, the Federal Reserve, foreign policy, and the Fair Tax.   Libertarian Party member Jote’ Thompson said that Snitker “shook the crowd,” which included a number of University of Florida students.
The political newcomer and former U.S. Marine bills himself as a regular guy.  That message seems to resonate well with those in the tea party movement, many of whom voiced dissatisfaction with career politicians from both major political parties.    “We need to return to the Founders’ concept of citizen legislators – ordinary Americans who serve their country and then return home to their own pursuits,” said Snitker.
Judging from the increasing crowd size at campaign stops, Snitker has been gaining momentum in recent weeks.  His media presence is growing rapidly as well, bolstered by appearances on talk radio and television, including Fox Business News.   “Americans are desperate for true grass-roots, liberty candidates,” said Nicole Chartrand, Snitker’s campaign manager.   “This is an all-volunteer campaign that holds to Constitutional ideals, and to the principles of the tea party movement.  People are responding to that.”

After the event, Snitker was surrounded by dozens of attendees eager to speak to the candidate one-on-one.   “I spoke to several people, including many Marco Rubio supporters, who said they were impressed with my pro-liberty positions,” said Snitker.

Snitker is scheduled to speak at the Freedom Rally hosted by the Gainesville Tea party Saturday, February 6th, 2010 at Noon at 1610 NW 65th Place in Gainesville.  Information on upcoming campaign events can be found at http://www.snitker2010.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 17, 2009
PASCO COUNTY - U.S. Senate candidate Alexander Snitker will be speaking at the Pasco County Libertarian Party meeting, 7pm this Thursday at Denny’s, 12105 Highway 19, Bayonet Point.  Snitker, the 2010 Libertarian challenger for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat being vacated by George LeMieu, has been embraced by both conservatives and classical liberals of the Tea Party grass-roots movements. The meeting is open to the public.

Snitker will be promoting his plan to stand up against the two-party political machine by working toward Congressional term limits and restoring a Constitutionally-limited federal government.  He has been described as, “the only viable Senate candidate that can has consistently held to the philosophies of the grass-roots, Tea Party movements.”

“What we desperately need is the brand of public servants our founders envisioned. We need the kind of citizen-statesmen who will go to Washington, bringing American common sense, and then return home to their own pursuits,” said Snitker. “We must eliminate the cartel of Democrat and Republican career politicians and end the outrageous Congressional perks and pensions.”

As a Libertarian, Snitker promotes a strict interpretation of the Constitution, and the restraints it places upon the federal government.  He states that all enumerated individual liberties are inalienable, not just the ones that are “popular or politically expedient.”  Snitker supports sound monetary policy, and putting an end to the spiraling, multi-generational debt created by the Federal Reserve central banking system.

Libertarian Party promotes individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a non-interventionist foreign policy. The Libertarian Party is the third-largest political party in the U.S., with over 200,000 registered voters. In recent elections, Libertarians have run more candidates for office on the local, state and national levels than all other third parties combined. More information can be found on Snitker’s official web site, http://www.snitker2010.com.
